Podcast
From testimonies to conversations, this podcast will have it all. A comfortable, enjoyable space where every African woman worldwide is welcomed to share their experience, thoughts and feelings.
What if learning to defend yourself started by regaining confidence in your strength?
As part of the SayaSAFE program, join us for a hands-on workshop in partnership with Pelea Boxing Club, a queer gym that's reimagining boxing culture by creating an inclusive, supportive, and accessible space for everyone.
Thursday, July 30, 2026

@sayasporaspace — 3875A Saint-Denis Street, Montreal
Free Workshop
During this evening, you'll discover the basics of boxing and self-defense techniques inspired by Muay Thai, while developing practical tools to feel more confident in your everyday life.
On the agenda:
🥊 Introduction to boxing with Martika Aguilar and Self-defense techniques inspired by Muay Thai with Leila Salame
- How to protect your face and maintain your guard.
- Essential movements to create distance and get to safety.
- Understanding when to use self-defense and prioritizing prevention.
- Learning to create space when faced with an attack.
- Reacting to different everyday situations.
- Practical exercises in pairs in a safe environment.
Beyond techniques, this workshop is also an invitation to develop self-confidence, better understand your limits, reclaim your space, and discover that safety begins with prevention, self-affirmation and awareness of one's environment.

We are fortunate to collaborate with RELIABLE PARTNERS who share our vision and values, and who have grasped the importance of bringing the voices of women from the African diaspora and minorities more generally to Canada.
