Building bridges between communities for inclusion and diversity

This bilingual project aims to build bridges between young women from the African diaspora and the various other communities that make up Canadian society. A project full of surprises that will put clichés to shame!

Thanks to the financial support of the Government of Canada, throughout 2024 we'll be bringing together women from the African diaspora and other communities that make up Canada's social fabric. These discussions will challenge some of the preconceived ideas about women of the African diaspora, but also about other minorities across the country.

Dates: March 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025

Dialogues of the diaspora is...

3 awareness campaigns

aimed at highlighting the realities of different population groups on topics such as intersectionality, stereotypes, gender or sexual identities, mental health, systemic racism and many others.

3 events open to all

during which the visual arts, the written word and the spoken word will come together in the most beautiful of ways to tackle these subjects from different angles and allow you, whatever your sensibility, to express yourself.

9 practical guides

intended for everyone, to popularize the concepts evoked and help raise awareness and educate all the people who make up Canadian society.

Research

The publication of a research paper based on surveys conducted in partnership with researcher Pascale Caidor of the Université de Montréal.

Our 3 awareness campaigns

Understanding intersectionality: The first step is to understand the concept of intersectionality. We'll be talking about gender and sexual identities, as well as class discrimination.

Deconstructing stereotypes: We will try to understand their origins and their impact on our mental health. In this way, we'll be able to work together to propose the most effective ways of deconstructing them.

Imagining a more inclusive society: We will discuss systemic racism and how to fight it, as well as the role of allies in this fight, so that together we can imagine a more inclusive society!
