Description of the organization

Sayaspora is a Montréal-based non-profit organization that amplifies the voices of young women from the African diaspora in Canada through cultural, media, and community-based projects. Through initiatives such as Making Your Way Up, Conversations d’Impact, and Dialogues de la Diaspora, Sayaspora creates spaces for reflection, creation, and dissemination that foster inclusion, representation, and collective empowerment within marginalized communities.

Position description

We are recruiting new volunteers! We are expanding our team to welcome several African women who are ready to work with us toward the betterment of our communities — young women who are agents of change. As Volunteer Management Lead at Sayaspora, you will support the Volunteer Human Resources Director in organizing team meetings, team-building activities, and the volunteer operational activities of the organization.

The person will have to…

  • Leading the recruitment process for new volunteers
  • Providing support and a listening ear to volunteers, fostering their motivation and participation
  • Ensuring the maintenance of an excellent internal work culture among volunteers
  • Analyzing volunteers' training needs, evaluating available resources, preparing a training schedule, and ensuring its implementation
  • Preparing an annual meeting calendar for volunteers and other relevant team members
  • Preparing and facilitating volunteer service meetings
  • Establishing and running a volunteer recognition program

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Studies in human resources or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills in French (English an asset) and ability to collaborate across multiple departments
  • Ability to think creatively
