Volunteer Opportunity – Spontaneous Applications in Fundraising, Partnerships, and Events

Sayaspora is currently looking for volunteers in the areas of fundraising, partnerships, and events, for approximately 5 to 10 hours of involvement per week. Description of the organization

Sayaspora is a Montréal-based non-profit organization that amplifies the voices of young women from the African diaspora in Canada through cultural, media, and community-based projects. Through initiatives such as Making Your Way Up, Conversations d’Impact, and Dialogues de la Diaspora, Sayaspora creates spaces for reflection, creation, and dissemination that foster inclusion, representation, and collective empowerment within marginalized communities.

Position description

We are recruiting new volunteers! We are expanding our team to welcome several African women who are ready to work with us toward the betterment of our communities — young women who are agents of change. We are recruiting for the following teams: fundraising, partnerships, and events.

The person will have to…

  • Partnerships Lead
  • Developing and managing a partnerships strategy aligned with Sayaspora's vision and medium- to long-term plan
  • Through direct prospecting, recruiting new and trusted partners
  • Establishing and maintaining effective long-term relationships with reputable partners across various sectors
  • Participating in relevant industry events in order to secure profitable agreements for Sayaspora
  • Working very closely with the Fundraising Lead on joint initiatives
  • Managing and designing creative public relations activations, influencer activations, and brand collaborations, as well as managing press and advertising for Sayaspora
  • Cultivating positive relationships with agencies, companies, talent, creatives, and other relevant stakeholders to advance the Sayaspora brand
  • Taking on other tasks and responsibilities as defined by management
  • Fundraising Lead
  • Participating in the development of a financing plan and ensuring its proper implementation
  • Completing funding applications for the media and developing fundraising tools
  • Participating in follow-ups with funding partners
  • Processing and tracking donations for fundraising events
  • Managing and supporting the recruitment, solicitation, and retention of donors
  • Monitoring programs or donation opportunities for which Sayaspora is eligible
  • Working very closely with the Brand Partnerships Lead
  • Taking on other tasks and responsibilities as defined by management
  • Events Project Manager
  • Designing, organizing, and overseeing projects and events aligned with Sayaspora's mission
  • Managing the logistics, budget, and resources required for their execution
  • Collaborating with other departments and partners to ensure the consistency and impact of initiatives
  • Developing communication and promotional strategies to maximize the reach of events and projects
  • Identifying and mobilizing funding or partnership opportunities to support initiatives
  • Monitoring and evaluating results, and preparing summary reports for management

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Partnerships Lead
  • Ability to identify, approach, and recruit strategic partners across various sectors, and to secure agreements that benefit Sayaspora
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong, lasting relationships with partners, agencies, companies, and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement a partnerships strategy aligned with Sayaspora's medium- and long-term objectives
  • Excellent communication skills and experience managing creative activations, brand collaborations, and media relations
  • Ability to work closely with other teams, particularly the Fundraising Lead, to maximize the impact of joint initiatives
  • Fundraising Lead
  • Experience writing grant applications, developing fundraising tools, and managing fundraising campaigns for non-profit organizations
  • Ability to recruit, solicit, and retain donors, as well as maintain trusted relationships with funding partners
  • Ability to actively identify and monitor grant programs, donations, and funding opportunities for which Sayaspora is eligible
  • Ability to accurately process, document, and track donations and contributions in collaboration with the finance team
  • Ability to work closely with the Partnerships Lead and other departments, with excellent communication skills in French (English an asset)
  • Events Project Manager
  • Experience designing, organizing, and overseeing events from start to finish, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within set deadlines
  • Ability to plan and manage a budget, coordinate logistics, and optimize available resources to ensure the success of events
  • Ability to work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure the consistency and impact of Sayaspora's initiatives
  • Ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies to maximize the visibility and reach of events and projects
  • Ability to track project results, identify funding or partnership opportunities, and prepare clear and structured reports for management
