Volunteer Opportunity: Lead Finance Support

Sayaspora is currently looking for a Lead Finance Support for about 5 to 10 hours per week.

Description of the organization

Sayaspora is a Montréal-based non-profit organization that amplifies the voices of young women from the African diaspora in Canada through cultural, media, and community-based projects. Through initiatives such as Making Your Way Up, Conversations d’Impact, and Dialogues de la Diaspora, Sayaspora creates spaces for reflection, creation, and dissemination that foster inclusion, representation, and collective empowerment within marginalized communities.

Position description

We’re recruiting new volunteers!
We expand our team year-round to support the delivery of our various missions within the African diaspora.
As Lead Finance Support at Sayaspora, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance Director with the organization’s financial management. This position focuses on providing technical support and carrying out key tasks to ensure Sayaspora runs smoothly.

The person will have to…

  • Actively participate in managing and monitoring the annual budget, supporting the Director in collecting and organizing financial data
  • Keep monthly financial reports up to date and compile data for Board of Directors meetings
  • Support the various teams by responding to their financial and logistical coordination needs
  • Help prepare financial reports for funders and contribute to analyzing the financial needs of projects

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Studies in accounting, finance or a related field
  • Comfortable with spreadsheet tools (Excel, Google Sheets) as well as Monday
  • Excellent communication skills in French (English an asset) and the ability to work across multiple departments
  • A strong sense of rigour and confidentiality

  • Time commitment: 5 to 10 hours per week
  • Attendance at team activities and meetings is mandatory
