Volunteer Opportunity: Special Projects Manager

Sayaspora is currently looking for a Special Projects Manager for about 5 to 10 hours per week.

Whether through stimulating projects like Making your way up, Diaspora Speaking Festival or Culture, Sayaspora’smission is to promote the African diaspora in Canada, which is why we need your help ! 

Description of the organization

Sayaspora is a Montréal-based non-profit organization that amplifies the voices of young women from the African diaspora in Canada through cultural, media, and community-based projects. Through initiatives such as Making Your Way Up, Conversations d’Impact, and Dialogues de la Diaspora, Sayaspora creates spaces for reflection, creation, and dissemination that foster inclusion, representation, and collective empowerment within marginalized communities.

Position description

We’re recruiting new volunteers! We expand our team year-round to support the fulfillment of our various missions within the African diaspora. As Special Projects Manager at Sayaspora, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating strategic initiatives, including special projects and the organization of events at our new offices. You will work closely with the team to ensure the planning, execution, and follow-up of these initiatives.

The person will have to…

  • Design, organize, and oversee projects and events aligned with Sayaspora’s mission
  • Manage the logistics, budget, and resources necessary for their implementation
  • Collaborate with other departments and partners to ensure the consistency and impact of initiatives
  • Develop communication and promotional strategies to maximize the reach of events and projects
  • Identify and secure funding or partnership opportunities to support initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate results, preparing reports for management

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Experience in project management and/or event planning
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of event management and communication tools
