Secure online and offline spaces for all
Sayasafe focuses on both digital and urban safety for young women from the African diaspora based in Montreal. It aims to create a safer, more respectful and inclusive digital and urban environment for these agents of change through formative workshops, inspirational conferences, educational digital resources and discussion groups driving positive initiatives.

3 interactive workshops
about online identity management, protection against cyberbullying, and the use of social media for empowerment.
An online discussion group
for 50 young women from the African diaspora in Montreal, focused on urban security.
3 dissemination events
during which 3 interactive educational videos will be projected to the 25 participants of each event.
2 online conferences
on urban securitý for 160 young women from the African diaspora.
3 practical workshops
urban security for a total of 75 participants.
Compilation of project results
and preparation of an informative report highlighting the impact of the initiative.

The second phase of Sayasafe is…
4 workshops and conferences within the premises of Sayaspora:
To deconstruct the forms of systemic violence encountered in public spaces and online, while promoting strategies of resistance, mutual aid, and collective care.
5 workshops and conferences within universities and Cégep:
To enable young people to deepen their understanding of issues related to gendered security. At the same time, collaborations will be established with Montreal companies willing to share their expertise.
6 episodes of Podcast:
With guests from different backgrounds (activist, academic, artistic) and 6 educational articles popularizing key issues of women’s safety online offline.
6 vox pop video clips #JeMeSensSafeQuand
In order to highlight personal stories and transform the collective imagination around security. We will collect testimonies in a series of short videos.
1 digital toolkit
Which will be distributed free of charge on university campuses, in collaboration with the student life services. This tool will be distributed later here on the website of Sayaspora.

Project summary
The Sayasafe project aims to create a safer, more respectful and inclusive digital and urban environment for these young women. Over a 20-month period, our project aims to educate, empower and raise awareness among this target community of the challenges and opportunities associated with digital and urban safety. Sayasafe will create essential resources and spaces for cybersecurity, street harassment prevention, gender-based violence awareness and identity affirmation. In addition, it will create an inclusive space where young women from the African diaspora can share their experiences and support each other.
