Volunteer opportunity – Social media strategist

Sayaspora is looking for a Social Media Strategist for approximately 5 to 10 hours of involvement per week.

Position description

We're recruiting new volunteers! We’re expanding our team to welcome several African women who will be willing to work with us toward the betterment of our communities. Women Changemakers.

We are currently seeking a Social Media Strategist responsible for the development and strategy of Sayaspora's social networks.

The Social Media Strategist is responsible for developing and executing content strategies for Sayaspora's social platforms. She works closely with the creative and communications teams to ensure that the content produced is aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. This volunteer experience will:

- Find a community of inspiring, generous and mobilized young African women;
- Participate in a project that has a real impact on young women in the African diaspora;
- Benefit from the Sayaspora network;
- Access to all Sayaspora events and much more!

The person will have to…

  • Design the monthly editorial calendar incorporating: ○ 10 monthly project-related publications. ○ 3 communications around magazine articles. ○ Other relevant topics and content series.
  • Define the objectives of each piece of content in terms of message, target audience and distribution channels.
  • Identify social and digital trends to feed campaigns and content.
  • Work with the communications officer - research section to gather the necessary information from: ○ Project managers for specific initiatives. ○ Magazine department for monthly publications.
  • Collaborate with content creators to ensure that visuals and text meet strategic expectations.
  • Integrate insights from competitive intelligence and relevant data in collaboration with the community manager.
  • Monitor the performance of campaigns and publications using analysis tools (e.g. Google Analytics, native social networking tools).
  • Propose strategic adjustments to maximize the engagement and impact of communications.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Communications Director, highlighting successes and areas for improvement, in collaboration with the Community Manager.

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Solid knowledge of the main social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Proficiency in content management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Trello, etc.) and performance analysis.
  • Strategic writing and storytelling skills adapted to each platform.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Rigor and autonomy in project management.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in content strategy or social media management.
  • Experience in team coordination or project management an asset.
  • Background in communications, marketing or related discipline.
  • Bilingual French-English required (written and spoken).
