Position description

Sayaspora is a medium that aims to amplify the voices and empower the actions of women from the African diaspora. Through inspiring content, innovative initiatives and engaging events, Sayaspora offers a platform for expression where the stories, experiences and ambitions of young women of African descent take center stage.

Founded on the values of inclusion, empowerment and diversity, Sayaspora highlights the journeys of women who are transforming their reality and impacting their community. Combining journalism, visual storytelling and community engagement, the medium explores diverse themes such as entrepreneurship and culture, always with a perspective rooted in the reality of the African diaspora.

In addition to its online magazine, Sayaspora develops concrete initiatives such as the Sayaspora School, an educational project aimed at equipping young women with digital and leadership skills, and organizes key events such as Making Your Way Up and Sayasafe, which address crucial issues related to safety and representation in the public and digital space.

Sayaspora has thus positioned itself as a key player in the media landscape, building bridges between cultures, generations and disciplines to foster genuine emancipation for women of African descent.

We are launching a call for tenders for a consultant specialized in financial strategy. The main objective of this mission is to develop a solid financial strategy and to implement transparent and efficient financial policies for Sayaspora.

The methodology and deliverables are as follows:

- Financial diagnosis: analysis of current financial practices and identification of areas for improvement.

- Development of a financial strategy: planning and recommendations adapted to Sayaspora's objectives.

- Drafting of financial policies: formalization of budget management, cash flow and reporting rules.

- Implementation and training: supporting the team in adopting new practices

The person will have to…

  • Analyze Sayaspora's current financial situation and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop a financial strategy aligned with the organization's sustainability and growth objectives.
  • Define financial policies including budget management, cash flow management, internal controls and reporting.
  • Propose tools and procedures to ensure the implementation and monitoring of adopted policies.

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Proven expertise in financial management, strategic planning and structuring of financial processes
  • Experience in NPO financial management, particularly in the social economy sector
  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian regulatory framework applicable to NPOs, including accountability and financial transparency requirements
  • Training and coaching skills to help the Sayaspora team master financial tools and processes

Position features

  • 3-month fixed-term contract, starting March 2025
  • Applications must include:
  • CV and/or portfolio demonstrating relevant experience
  • A methodological note explaining the approach proposed for the mandate.
  • A detailed financial proposal.
