Position description

Sayaspora is a medium that amplifies the voices of women from the African diaspora in Canada. Founded in 2015 in Montreal. Sayaspora was founded on the belief in the power of representation as a tool for social change and inspiration. Managed, conceived and directed by women of African descent who live in Canada and act for the good and development of their community, Sayaspora's mission is to empower women of the African diaspora through a community, safe spaces and resources that contribute to their personal, professional and cultural well-being. Now Sayaspora is a network of over 20,000 people online, with a predominantly young female audience (aged 18-35). The person will have to…

  • Establish a financing plan and ensure its proper development to support Sayaspora's initiatives.
  • Complete funding applications and identify suitable grant opportunities.
  • Develop and implement fundraising tools
  • Manage regular follow-ups with funding partners to maintain good relations.
  • Process and track donations received at Sayaspora fundraising events.
  • Manage and support the donor recruitment, solicitation and retention process.
  • Monitor funding programs and donations for which Sayaspora may be eligible.
  • Work closely with the Partnership Manager to ensure synergy between fundraising efforts and business development initiatives.
  • Assume other tasks and responsibilities defined by management, according to Sayaspora's evolving needs.

Ideally, the person will have…

  • Proven experience in managing fundraising projects, particularly in the non-profit or community sector.
  • Skills in writing funding proposals and following up on donations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain strong links with funding partners.
  • Strong autonomy and ability to work closely with other departments.
  • Ability to organize and manage fundraising events.
  • Knowledge of digital fundraising tools and crowdfunding platforms.
  • A passion for gender equality, diversity and women's issues in the African diaspora.

Position features

  • Part-time: 35 hours per month
  • Work from home (with the possibility of in-person meetings in Canada)

What we offer

  • Compensation of 1000CAD per week
