This theme generated so many reactions that we could have done a whole season on it! <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab<\/span><\/i><\/b> <b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">For me, code-switching is something I do all the time, and I&#8217;m so FA-TIGHT, I go home at night and I&#8217;m FA-TI-GUEATED. The number of times I wanted to say <\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8220;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wesh<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8221; I said<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8220;top&#8221;<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Maybe, like Nasma, you&#8217;ve felt compelled to laugh at jokes that you found lacking in quality, or, like Odile, you&#8217;ve wondered which haircut was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab acceptable<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> \u00bb for your job interview, or that like Sabrina you don&#8217;t mind being categorized as the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> femme noire en col\u00e8re \u00bb. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"> You bet it is&#8230; so this is the theme for you!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">As you watch the video, you&#8217;ll understand how each woman&#8217;s status affects her reactions to these issues. You&#8217;ll no doubt recognize yourself in one or more of their anecdotes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">How did you react?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s always up to us to have the <\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">emotional labour<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and always having to explain who you are and justify your identity. <\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The findings are clear: 100% of the participants in the Impact Conversations events had encountered situations in their professional lives where their visible identity had been the subject of reflection, mockery or questions perceived as inappropriate. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">An opportunity for constructive exchanges between different points of view:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"-\" data-font=\"Calibri\" data-listid=\"1\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">A duty to educate?<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"-\" data-font=\"Calibri\" data-listid=\"1\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Considering that the burden of educating is not ours to bear, but should be the responsibility of others?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We were pretty much 50\/50, so it was up to each of us to do what we could according to our abilities and the situation.
