Consulting Opportunity – Project Manager

Description of the organization

Sayaspora is a Montréal-based non-profit organization that amplifies the voices of young women from the African diaspora in Canada through cultural, media, and community-based projects. Through initiatives such as Making Your Way Up, Conversations d’Impact, and Dialogues de la Diaspora, Sayaspora creates spaces for reflection, creation, and dissemination that foster inclusion, representation, and collective empowerment within marginalized communities.

Position description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the consultant will support the management and implementation of the projects assigned to them. The mandate includes responsibility for ensuring compliance with the project plans, timelines, and associated budgets.

The person will have to…

  • Coordinating and carrying out resource planning for assigned projects, including the management and facilitation of a mentorship activity, and ensuring the smooth execution of deliverables under their governance.
  • Designing and implementing project performance evaluation tools and methods.
  • Overseeing the production and dissemination of digital content (videos, articles, etc.) and events focused on Canada’s creative industries, in collaboration with various industry stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the project’s marketing strategy (publication tracking, community engagement, calendar management, and timeline monitoring).
  • Contributing to the creation of general content disseminated on social media platforms (research, content structuring, etc.).
  • Proactively identifying development opportunities with current and potential partners, including collaborations with professionals, organizations, and companies within the creative industries ecosystem.
  • Working closely with the Executive Director on any other tasks related to the mandate.

More specifically, the consultant will be responsible for:

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in project management and event coordination.
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms, particularly Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French.
  • Good written knowledge of English.
  • Strong interest in issues related to inclusion, social justice, and diaspora representation.

Expectations and Commitment

Work location : Montréal (hybrid)
Schedule : 30 hours per week
Start date : February
Status : Consulting contract – 5-month term (possibility of renewal)
Compensation : Between $25/hour and $32/hour, depending on experience
